5G Technology....

blogsirius

Hello, busy people. Welcome back to Blog Sirius. Getting bored of reading the routine stuff,

don't worry we are here to provide you the best and interesting topics. Today we are going to explain the most trending and interesting technology which is 5G. Technology is one of the streams of Blog Sirius where one can find a lot about technical stuff and the latest technologies. This blog lets you know about what is 5g, what is the need for 5g, and how it works along with the applications. Okay, let's start...

INTRODUCTION:

5G stands for 'FIFTH GENERATION WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY'

As of now, we have seen so many wireless generations such as 1G,2G,3G,4G. Every new generation of wireless network delivers faster speeds and more functionalities such as

reliability, low latency to smartphones than the previous generation.

As the 1G enables us to do voice calls

2G makes it feasible to send text messages along with the data up to 64kbps speed

3G bought us increased data speeds up to 3mbps and allows us to do video calls

4G provides us high speed up to 50mbps, high capacity, and low cost per bit and a lot more.

WHAT IS THE NEED FOR 5G:

All smartphones and electronic devices operate at frequencies of less than 3Ghz. The bandwidth of 4G is about 100Mhz. So within the small range, more devices have to share the data hence the users will have to suffer due to the reduced speeds and the latency of the 4g is about 50msec due to this there are lags while streaming, playing online games, etc.,

5G provides us the speed which is about 100 times faster than the 4g. So with the help of 5G technology, we can overcome all these drawbacks.

HOW 5G WORKS:

The working of the 5G is explained using the following technologies they are:

                1. Millimeter waves

                2. Small cell

                3. Massive MIMO

                4. Beamforming

                5. Full duplex

Let's discuss each technology in brief.

  1.MILLIMETER WAVES:

The 5G technology is developed on millimeter waves which lie between microwaves and infrared waves having the frequency range between 30Ghz to 300Ghz, hence it provides more bandwidth and the latency

of 5G technology is about 1msec which is very small when compared to the latency of 4g, the low latency enables us to do VR streaming, it helps to develop autonomous cars, etc..

The drawback of millimeter waves is that they cannot travel through the obstacles, hence to overcome this we use small cell technology.

  2.SMALL CELL TECHNOLOGY:

Today wireless networks use large and high powered cells to broadcast their signals over long distances. As high-frequency millimeter waves cannot travel through obstacles we should use a number of small and low power towers. So as the user moves the connectivity shifts from one cell to another to provide seamless connectivity, and due to less power the radiation will also decrease.

  3.Massive MIMO:

MIMO stands for ' Multiple Input and Multiple Output '

Today 4G base stations have 10-12 ports through which data transfer and receiving takes place, but massive Mimo stations can support up to 100 ports as a result the data transmission and receiving speed increase. So when more users get connected the speed doesn't decrease.

The drawback of Massive MIMO is that due to more number of ports the waves travel in all directions as a result these waves get interacted with each other and signal break occurs to avoid this we use Beamforming technology.

 4.BEAMFORMING:

Instead of broadcasting in every direction, it allows the base station to send the data to a specific user to overcome the signal breaking issue.

 5.FULL DUPLEX:

This method is helpful in transmitting and receiving the data at the same time this is called Full Duplex technology. This is achieved by switching the silicon transistor at a very high speed.

With the help of these technologies, we can get never before internet speeds.

APPLICATIONS OF 5G:

1)Due to very high speed and low latency, it is possible to use automated vehicles so that they interact with the other vehicles nearby and changes the speed and direction which reduces the traffic up to 94 percent and the number of accidents.

2) With 5G we can watch HD content without any buffering.

3) With 5G we can make use of robots in industries by integrating through the high-speed network.

4) 5G has a lot more applications such as IoT, health care, education, etc.,

After knowing about the 5G technology how many of you are waiting for it, Which application of 5G attracted you the most? and if you any queries let us know in the comment section.
