Origin of KFC
The founder of KFC was Colonel Sanders. The first KFC restaurant was started in 1952 at Stall lake city which was located in Utah, US. He failed not only for once or twice. He failed more than 1000 times. Though he failed, he never stopped working hard. He believed himself and started the restaurant. At present, the flavours of KFC had spread across 24,000 restaurants in 150 countries. The taste of KFC was alive, because of his inspiration.
About Colonel Sanders
The full name of Colonel Sanders is Harland David Sanders. He was born on September 9, 1890, at Henryville which was located in Indiana in America. His parents Wilbur David Sanders and Margaret Ann Sanders were agricultural labours. When Sanders was three years, his father died because of poisonous fever. Sanders had a brother and sister. Their financial status was not good. To feed her children, Margaret used to clean utensils in other houses. Due to insufficient money, she joined in a factory where tomato jam was prepared. As an elder son to his family, the responsibility of family was on Sanders. So he joined in agriculture. His salary was two dollars. He was 10 years then. He used to play with rabbits, squirrels and birds in the field and escaped to do work. The owner of the farm gave him one month salary and sent him to home.
One year later, Margaret married a Gardner. The whole family of Sanders shifted to Gardner's house. Margaret children joined in a new school. Sanders used to walk for 5 miles to go to school. After a few days, the character of his new father was identified. His father used to beat Sanders and his siblings without any reason. Sanders was not able to tolerate this. He went to his native place without informing anyone.
In his native place, he joined in agriculture and studied there. He failed in Seventh standard. So he lost interest in studies. Later he joined in some painting work. One day his uncle saw him and asked what are you doing here? And took Sanders to his home. He got a job as a conductor because of his uncle's recommendation. One day a soldier was travelling on the bus. He said to Sanders won't u try to join in the military. There might be a war between Cuba and America. They need young people. He was sixteen years then. Sanders said that he was 21 and joined the military. The military officials sent him to Cuba. He worked there for six months and returned to America. Again he got the financial crisis.
Sanders thought that railway job would be better for him. He got a job as a railway line worker from a contractor and worked for two months. Later he joined in coal engine cleaning. One day a worker who used to work in the steam engine as a fireman was on leave. The train has to run. So the driver took Sanders along with him. Sanders worked very well. The driver appreciated Sanders work and advised his officials to take him as a fireman. Sanders was minor then. He needs parents permission to join in that. So he searched for his mother and got the permission letter. He studied diploma course to run locomotive engines. All the team members liked his leadership qualities and made him as a union leader. There he loved Josephine and married her. Due to some reasons, he lost his railway job. His wife was pregnant then. A baby was born to Sanders and he got a job in Western railways. Both happened at the same time. He named his baby as Margaret Sanders.
Sanders lost the job in Western railways because he slapped his colleague due to some reason. Thereafter he took long term course and studied law. Now, his life was going smoothly. But Sanders has anger on his nose. In the court, in front of the judge, he slapped his colleague and he lost his job. He went to his native place and visited his mother. There he joined as a cleaner in railways. His neighbours were all with good clothes and I was with these dirty clothes and coal marks. What I was doing? Why I was like this? He started questioning himself. Later he bought a suit for rent and joined as an agent in Prudential life Insurance company. Within one year, he bought a car and leading a happy life with his wife and 3 children. He got bored with that job. He joined as a salesman in Milichan tyres company at Kentucky. He shifted his family to Kentucky. He met with an accident. He sold his car to feed his family.
One day Sanders was walking on the road. He stopped a car and asked for a lift. The owner of the car was the manager of the Standard Oil company. The manager listened to the Sanders situation and asked him that can u run a petrol pump? Sanders got a dealership to run a petrol pump. The petrol pump was closed because of a money crisis. Later he opened another petrol pump at karbin, Kentucky on highway road. It was a tourist spot and another side it has coal mines. The tourists who visited petrol pump were asked for good hotels. There were no hotels there.
Sanders observed that and started a mini restaurant with six chairs in that petrol pump.He cooked the food very deliciously. All the tourists liked it very much. Suddenly, his 20 years son was dead. At the same time, he got divorced from his wife. They lived together for 39 years and got divorced due to instability in his work. Sanders pain was unpredictable. After two years, he married a waitress Claudia who worked in his restaurant. Now, his financial status was good.
He built a new restaurant where 100 members can be sufficient in that place. The country got a good name because of Sanders. The governor of Kentucky awarded him with a name "Colonel". He lost that restaurant in a fire accident. He was not depressed. Now, he built a big hotel and lodge there with 25 dollars. In the road extension, he lost that hotel too.
How KFC
Though he changed many jobs, cooking had become his favourite one. He didn't leave that. He wanted to be become famous with cooking. In 1939, he powdered 11 different spices and cooked chicken fry. The chicken fry was very crispy and tasty. The people who tasted the fry not even left their fingers also. Sanders got a trust that cooking might work. He had taken a pressure cooker , cooking utensils , stove and spices in his car backside and started his journey. Wherever he found the restaurant, he explained his cooking formula and asked for the franchisee. No one accepted his franchisee. He failed and failed and failed more than 1000 times. At last a restaurant owner, Pete Harman took the franchise. Then he started a restaurant "Kentucky Fried Chicken" at stall lake City in Utah country, America in 1952. KFC had spread all over America. He worked very hard for 4 years without sleep and opened many chain restaurants in America and Canada. By the end of 1964, nearly 800 restaurants were presented all over the world. John.Y. Brown who was a lawyer got attracted to run the KFC. He came forward to buy KFC. It was a tough decision to Sanders but he became old. He had no one to look over these restaurants. So he sold KFC for 20 lakh dollars to John.Y. Brown.
He started another restaurant "Colonel lady" with his wife. He was not stopped working in his retirement time. Though he did many jobs and failed many times, he showed his success all over the world. He died on December 16, 1980, because of leukaemia.
